Аннотация

The crustal stress in the region of the Caspian Basin, specifically stress induced by the effects of the density variations and of the interaction of the lithostatic pressure with the nonuniform distribution of the shear modulus, is studied. The distribution of the average pressure over the depth is analyzed. The input data for deriving the vertical section are the distributions of density and longitudinal velocity, from which the required inhomogeneity and density variation functions are computed. The corresponding distribution of positive values of the average stress is shown. The distribution of positive values of the average stress caused by the interaction of the lithostatic stress with the structural inhomogeneities of the crust is illustrated. The overall distribution of the positive values of the average pressure caused by the variations in density and by the lithostatic pressure is presented.
