Abstract

Data on reverse freezing of rocks around wells depending on the duration of the thermal effect (during drilling or operation), calculated with the aid of a computer, are approximated by means of convenient empirical formulas. Examples of utilization of the relations thus obtained in oil well practice to determine the time of safe conservation of wells drilled in permafrost rock zone are given. The results may be used to develop and evaluate various technological measures for the prevention of the collapse of strings of pipes when thawed rocks around wells freeze again.
