Selective laser sintering (SLS) as the method of rapid prototyping is used in manufacturing the patterns for lost foam casting. Hardness, the porosity and thermal expansion coefficients, as well as the elasticity and destruction limits are determined for powdered metal-polymer compositions chose for SLS. The results of surface shape control of the sintered articles show that the SLS method of the powdered compositions permits to synthesize the voluminous articles with the physical and mechanical characteristics comparable with ones for patterns made of traditional materials.
