Transient mode beating in disk microresonator at picosecond pulse excitation

Abstract

Transient pulse travelling inside circular microcavity has been studied theoretically using developed rigorous and efficient mathematical method. This method allows us to obtain analytical solution of the wave equation in the Laplace domain. Inverse transformation is obtained through evaluation of residues at singular points that represent excited modes of a resonator. External beam excitation is modelled by the point source with complex coordinates. Transient mode beating has been investigated and visualized.
