Thermal fluctuations of vortex lines, pinning, and creep in high-Tc superconductors

Abstract

Thermal fluctuations of vortex lines are shown to be capable of strongly reducing the value of the critical current in the mixed state of high-Tc superconductors. The theory of pinning in the presence of thermal fluctuations is developed. The current relaxation law in the regime of single-vortex pinning is obtained.
