The limit plastic state of a holed strip made of a dilatant material

An approach to the description of plastic deformation in a dilatant medium is considered depending on a stress state type. The limit state problem is analyzed for a strip with a circular hole under plane strain conditions. An analytic solution is obtained for a particular type of the plasticity condition; this solution is compared with the numerical results obtained for this problem by a finite element method. It is found that the kinematics of the numerical elastoplastic solution and the kinematics of the analytic solution are essentially different, whereas in both these cases the limit loads are approximately the same.
