The Crystal Structure of Ca3ReO6

The complex oxide Ca3ReO6was synthesized and its crystal structure determined using X-ray powder analysis (space groupP2 1/n;a=5.53664(5)Å;b=5.80322(5)Å;c=7.98492(7) Å;β=90.073(1)°;RI=0.032,RP=0.069,R wP=0.095;Z=2). The real symmetry is monoclinic due to a simultaneous tilt and rotation of the CaO6and ReO6octahedra. Electron diffraction and electron microscopy confirm the X-ray results. Ca3ReO6is isostructural withA2RRuO6oxides.
