Study of Adsorption of Diatomic Fluids in Narrow Pores by the Monte Carlo Method: I. Profiles of Local Density

Abstract

The Monte Carlo method, in conjunction with the grand canonical ensemble, was used to study the behavior of ethane and quasi-ethane (a molecule with a longer length) in adsorbing pores as a function of the mean density, adsorption-field strength, and temperature. It was shown that, at moderate densities of adsorbate, drastic changes occur as the system temperature is decreased from 180 to 160 K.
