Inorganic/organic polyelectrolyte micro-capsules (see diagram for synthetic approach) possess the advantages of inorganic materials (i.e., high mechanical stability) and of conventional polyelectrolyte microcapsules (i.e., the ability to control the release/uptake properties of the capsule shell by changing pH value and ionic strength). Their initial spherical shape and controlled release properties remain after drying.
