Simple method of hydrophilic/hydrophobic patterning of solid surfaces and its application to self-assembling of nanoengineered polymeric capsules

Abstract

A method for preparation of surfaces with patterned hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties was developed. Substrates with highly hydrated windows separated by hydrophobic areas, as well as features with different degree of hydrophobicity, were fabricated with this method. These surfaces were used for self-assembling of nanoengineered polymeric capsules. Patterned layers of different types of capsules were realized. Adhesion of produced features was found to depend on the nature of used capsules.
