Abstract

We present a method to approximate the optical resonances of stacked dielectric and metallic gratings using the Fourier modal method and optical scattering matrix theory. The resulting equations form a low-dimensional linear eigenvalue problem that can easily be solved for varying inter-grating distances, including near field effects as well as multiple scattering in the far field regime.
