Rectifying behavior of a free-standing carbon nanotube kink-shaped heterojunction

Abstract

We have investigated electrical transport properties of a free-standing kink-shaped carbon nanotube heterojunction. Both imaging and transport measurements were performed by using a low-energy electron point source microscope. The measured I-V curve showed clear rectifying behavior at room temperature, which is in sharp contrast with the symmetrical current-voltage characteristics of kink-free nanotubes.
