Phase sensitive phenomena in Andreev interferometer

Abstract

We report on the experimental study of the phase periodic resistance oscillations in an Andreev-type interferometer consisting of a mesoscopic normal metal ring (Ag) connected to a superconductor (Al). We observe a spectacular modulation of the oscillations due to an interplay of the phase transfer from the superconducting condensate to quasiparticles and interference phenomena in the normal ring. We discuss the results within the framework of recently developed theory of the long-range proximity effect.
