Parallel factorisation and solution of network equations

Abstract

Power systems analysis computations require the solution of large sparse sets of linear equations. Traditional sequential solutions to these equations are too slow for real-time applications and parallel methods of solution have been developed. The theoretical basis of a new parallel solution method developed by the authors has been reported elsewhere. This paper supplements earlier publications and presents quantitative performance results for a real parallel implementation of the method.
