Observation of soliton turbulence via coupled bump-on-tail instabilities

Abstract

We experimentally observe the algebraic k-2 spectrum of soliton turbulence via the coupled interaction of two all-optical bump-on-tail instabilities. The observation confirms predictions of energy equipartition based on wave kinetic theory.
