Nonlinear focusing and defocusing of partially-coherent spatial beams

Abstract

We consider, experimentally and theoretically, the propagation of a partially-coherent spatial beam in both self-focusing and self-defocusing nonlinear media. Measurements of beam widths confirm the dynamical scaling predicted by a nonlinear Gaussian-Schell model.
