Abstract

Abstract: A modification of the well-known wide-range equations of state ofNigmatulin–Bolotnova is proposed for describing the high-speedadiabatic-compression of vapor of tetradecane in the metastableregion in physically consistent way. The modification is based ontaking into account the effect of delay of vapor condensationprocesses under high compression rate. It is useful for studyingvarious phenomena associated with high-speed compression of vaporof tetradecane when the compression is close to adiabatic. It can,in particular, be applied to investigating high-speed collapse ofcavitation bubbles in tetradecane. The technique of the proposedmodification can also be used for a similar correction of otherequations of state built on the basis of the generalizedBorn–Mayer potential.
