Mechanism of metal cationization in organic SIMS

Abstract

Metal cationization, in which the organic molecules combine with a neutral excited metal atoms, was discussed. In the ionization process, an electornically excited atom or a ground state one was made to collide with another species resulting in the formation of an ionized association complex. The calculations of the potential energy curves were performed alongwith calculations of binding energies, bond lengths. It was found that the electron structure calculations for the model system C 6 H 6 +Me(Me=Ag, Cu, Au) using the density functional theory supports the ionization process.
