Low-loss high germania-doped fiber: a promising gain medium for 1.3 μm Raman amplifier

Abstract

High germania-doped fibers with reduced excess losses were fabricated. It is shown that 1.3 μm Raman fiber amplifier with gain above 25 dB can be developed using low-loss high NA germania-doped fibers with the pump power of about 200 mW.
