Langmuir-Blodgett films as efficient modifiers of piezoquartz sensors

The use of Langmuir-Blodgett technology of film preparation was proposed for obtaining a sensitive layer of piezoquartz resonators. The Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were prepared on the base of different amphiphilic compounds, arachidic acid and specially synthesized alkylated calix[4]resorcinarene and β-cyclodextrin which are molecules-receptors. The piezoquartz resonators modified by LB films with various number of monolayers were tested as sensors of nitroalkanes. It is shown that the method of surface modification proposed allows one to reach higher sensitivity and shorter time of analysis.
