Interaction in the SrO-CuO-SrF2 System

Interaction in SrO-CuO-SrF2 mixtures were studied using X-ray powder diffraction in samples isothermally annealed at 220, 300, and 400°C. The Sr,Cu∥O,F system is shown to be a reciprocal ternary system with a stable CuO-SrF2 diagonal. When in contact with fluorides, HF, or CO2 at 400°C, Sr2CuO3 and SrCuO2 cuprates are not stable. New phases including Sr2Cu(O,F)4+δ with δ = 0 are not found in the system at T ≤ 400°C. The phase with δ > 0 is obtainable only under oxidative conditions.
