Abstract

This paper proposes a new approach to identify congestion zones in power system with the help of locational marginal prices (LMPs) that are expressed as the sum of components due to individual transmission and voltage binding constraints using full non-linear AC power system model and assuming distributed slack node consisting of marginal nodes. This methodology can be applied both for short and long term identification of congestion zones. The methodology is demonstrated on IEEE 30-nodes and Polish system.
