Abstract

The free field representation of the generators of the W-algebra arises immediately as a result of the projection on a linear subspace in the space of bosonic variables uα, vα and φ introduced by Gerasimov et al. This procedure is demonstrated in detail for the simplest example of the SL (2)k Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) theory, when it results directly in the Dotsenko-Fateev representation of ordinary minimal models.
