Generation of surface plasmon polaritons in CrI3-based systems

Abstract

Detection and utilization of surface electromagnetic waves appearing due to the coupling between charge density waves of a conducting media and external electromagnetic field are of a great importance for plasmonics. In this summary, we show that the surface electromagnetic waves can be achieved in a CrI3 within the Kretschmann-Raether configuration. Using the corresponding conductivity tensor values, we reveal the surface plasmon polariton generation at the outer interface of the proposed system by analyzing the magnetic field component distribution through the structure under illumination by TM-polarized light.
