The paper considers the application of the mathematical functions called continuants to the analysis of electronic systems described by the tridiagonal matrix. On the basis of explicit solution of the tridiagonal matrix equation and properties of continuants, some simplifications and transformations as well as sensitivity and noise analysis are presented. The examples of practical circuits and systems used in electrical and control engineering are considered.
