Electronic structure of GaSe quantum dots

The electronic structure of cylindrical GaSe quantum dots was investigated on the basis of twodimensional band structure of thin GaSe sheets. The dependence of the HOMO-LUMO gap values on the nanoparticle diameter is presented. The indirect gap is found to be weakly depended on the diameter of the quantum dot. The dependence of the lateral size-induced effect on the thickness of the nanoparticle is shown.
