Directional excitation of bloch surface wave with silicon nanoparticle

Abstract

We demonstrate the excitation of a Bloch surface wave in a one-dimensional photonic crystal by a single laser-printed Mie-resonant silicon nanoparticle. The direction of the surface wave propagation can be controlled by tuning the wavelength of the incident radiation.
