Coexistence of low threshold lasing and strong coupling in microcavities

Abstract

The study of the coexistence of low threshold lasing in the strong coupling regime of semiconductor microcavities was presented. The analysis study was conducted in a high-quality microcavity under near-resonant optical pumping. Splitting of a sharp laser mode from the lower-polariton was observed with the increase in the pumping power. Lasing action was produced by low density localized exciton states that were weakly coupled to the cavity mode.
