Calculation of residual stresses under laser steel hardening

Abstract

Origination, development and redistribution of elastic, thermal, concentration and phase stresses are theoretically and numerically studied on the basis of steel laser quenching model. Exact solution of quasi-stationary problem with an account of concentration stresses by laser effect is obtained. Iteration grid scheme for calculating stresses in the plastic area of the laser influence zone is developed and realized. Complex analysis of this kind makes it possible to evaluate dislocation linear density and residual stress values by laser quenching. Analysis and comparison with experimental results are carried out.
