BER improvement for RZ-DPSK receivers using saturated asymmetric filtering

    Abstract

    We present a new enhanced receiver for noise degraded RZ-DPSK signals. A highly saturated SOA and a detuned filter are used. An error free detection for an 8×10-6 input BER is demonstrated.
