Abstract

Barium mercurate BaHgO2 was synthesized from a stoichiometric BaO2-HgO mixture. The thermal stability of BaHgO2 in oxygen and argon was studied by differential thermogravimetric analysis. The crystal structure of BaHgO2 was refined by X-ray powder diffraction: A(I) = 0.068, R(P) = 0.132, and Rw(P) = 0.131.
