Abstract

In April 2004, average zonal transmission losses (AZTL) charging is due to be introduced in England and Wales. In April 2005, the British electricity trading and transmission arrangements (BETTA) are due to give go-live throughout Great Britain without AZTL. An overview is given of the arguments surrounding the introduction of locational loss charging.
