Abstract

The paper presents results of the unfrozen water content determination by using the water-potentiometric method based on measurements of the pore water potential. Frozen soils with different particle size distribution, chemical and mineral composition, salinity and organic matter content (peat) have been used. The correlation of unfrozen water content in frozen soils with specific surface area at different negative temperatures has been obtained. Applicability of the water-potentiometric method for unfrozen water content determination in saline and peat-containing soils has been examined.
