Research interests

Nikolay Koshev is an expert in the field of inverse and ill-posed problems of mathematical physics. Graduated with an MS diploma in physics under the supervision of Prof. Anatoly G. Yagola at Moscow Lomonosov State University, faculty of physics, department of mathematical physics. Worked on Ph.D. thesis under the supervision of A.G.Yagola (MSU) and L.V.Beilina (Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden).  The Ph.D. thesis was devoted to the inverse problems occurring in electron microscopy, and was defended at MSU in 2012. Worked as a postdoc in Brazil (University of Sao Paulo) on the field of X-ray tomography, and in the USA (University of North Carolina at Charlotte) on the field of ill-posed inverse problems (Cauchy problems and coefficient inverse problems) for elliptic and parabolic PDEs. Joined Skoltech at the end of 2018 and in 2019 started to work on the project related to development of new techniques of source reconstruction in electric and magnetic encephalography, including both experimental part (development of encephalographic system combining electric and magnetic measurements using optically pumped magnetometers) and mathematical part (development of a novel well-posed method for source reconstruction). Also works on the area of tomography in backscattered electrons with usage of electron microscope in collaboration with Prof. E.Rau and Prof. A.G.Yagola (MSU).
