Academic Reputation and Societal Impact

Oil and Gas recovery is a leading industry of Russian economy. Sustaining hydrocarbon production on a high level at a simultaneous cost reduction is a vitally important problem. Many technologies, which are presently available in Russia, are falling behind world leaders. Lags in technologies cause lags in petroleum engineering education existing in Russia.

Following clear request of oil and gas industry and RF government, SCHR focuses efforts in research, education and innovations to develop new technological solutions for exploration and production of hydrocarbons at such geological objects as brown fields, shale oils, heavy oils, low permeable and carbonate reservoirs, oil fields in polar regions and Arctic shelf.
